Security guards are trained to carry out a number of duties, ensuring they’re always prepared for all eventualities, including:

• Monitoring your gatehouse/reception to control access
• Regularly patrolling your property and site to provide mobile security
• Examining your CCTV system to detect and respond to intruders
• Diffusing unwanted situations before they can escalate
• Providing additional services such as managing logbooks, post, telephone calls or greeting visitors

Whilst security guards do not have the same powers as police officers, they are authorised to perform a ‘citizen’s arrest’ if safe and have reason to do so, such as witnessing a crime, protecting others or preventing damage whilst the police arrive.
